Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro 1 Gallon Ceramic Compost Keeper, White

Customer Review: Decent for what it is
Summary: 3 Stars

The muted white ceramic looks decent enough to leave on the counter and does an admirable job containing the ordors. That said, the rubber seal around the base of the lid is pointless. It requires some finesse to get it to lay flat and will curl up if you don't continually adjust it. If you do manage to keep it flat, it will just develop mold as the container doesn't provide enough ventilation.

Customer Review: Norpro 1 gallon ceramic compost keeper, white
Summary: 3 Stars

This item is okay but not great for me. What's not great is it does not have a full gallon capacity and I find the handle inconvenient as it comes off very easily. Perhaps it was made to come off for easier cleaning; however it is difficult to use when dumping the contents into the compost pile. The up side is that it is attractive and easy to keep clean and the filter part works very well.

Customer Review: does the job but it's fragile
Summary: 3 Stars

We bought the ceramic version because it looks much nicer on the counter. It holds a lot and does not stink up the kitchen so that's all good. However, the little knob on top has broken off twice, and the ceramic is a bit stained. We're wishing we had bought the stainless steel version instead. It wouldn't necessarily look as attractive, but I suspect it would be much more durable.

Customer Review: great but breakable
Summary: 3 Stars

The compost keeper was great, until the lid broke when it slid off as I was taking it out to empty, but now it's a lovely vase. The lid never sat down completely in its place. It is also little small for our compost needs, but it was beautiful while it lasted, arrived quickly, and we'll probably purchase another. We'll go for something more durable though, like stainless.

Customer Review: small, but effective
Summary: 3 Stars

I haven't used this product yet, because I have been processing lima beans, tomatoes, peaches needing a gallon bucket. I plan to use this smaller container when the August harvest is over, and I'm not making so much compost at a time. The charcoal filter will keep the garbage smells from making my kitchen smell rotten.
