Customer Review: Fragile but reasonably priced and very attractive

I bought this compost keeper in red, and I just love it. You have to be really careful with it, because it's ceramic and is very fragile. However, it's probably less than half the price of the stainless steel version and easier to keep clean and shiny. The lid requires special filters also available on amazon. Also recommended are the bio-bags that are biodegradable and can be thrown right into your compost bin or compost pile. This little pail is a huge motivator to compost food scraps that would normally be put down the garbage disposal or into the garbage can.Customer Review: Looks and works as promised

We bought the white ceramic version because it looks much nicer than the stainless steel on our counter top. It keeps the compost smell out of the kitchen and is nicer to look at than a bowl or bag of scraps. We empty it once a week and notice the food has already begun to break down. However the ceramic bottom is very rough and I think the abrasiveness would tend to scratch highly polished finishes. We put small round furniture pads on the bottom to keep it up from the counter top. All in all, we are very satisfied with it and would highly recommend it.Customer Review: Fruit draws fruit flies, not a composter

I've had this for more than a year since starting my own compost heap. I have no complaints at all about this, keeps all odors contained, simple to clean, I haven't found the handle "clunky" at all, and when we did have a fruit fly outbreak it was because we had old fruit, not this...in fact I think this thing helped with the problem because the fruitflies went to the fruit inside which could then be removed. All in all a good product, helps us to feel good about composting and it looks great in red on the counter.Customer Review: Kitchen composting

Excellent product that surpassed my expectations. With just the two of us working a lot, not cooking every day and not producing enough scraps to empty daily, I was worried that it might smell or even possibly draw insects, but those were baseless concerns and it measures up to the job because of the filters in the top. I highly recommend this product because now we don't have smelly mixed kitchen garbage, the crock emits no odor and it is easy to keep clean. I have been using this compost keeper on my counter for about a month now. It is perfect for collecting my kitchen stuff for the compost bin and it looks nice too. It cleans very easily and does not stain. (I put a lot of coffee grounds and tea bags in it). The handle seems pretty sturdy to me. It has never come off and I have no problems carrying the full container outside with no accidents. I have not yet had to put a new filter in the lid, but I do empty it daily. I would highly recommend this product.
