This ceramic kitchen crock is just what I needed. It blends in nicely with my semi-white kitchen and it sits on the counter awaiting for me to feed it kitchen scraps to be later transferred to my outside composter. I am careful when taking it to the composter to empty or to wash in sink, because it is ceramic. I find it that it is sturdy, but i don't hold it by the handles, just in case it comes loose. It's a great product....but obviously breakable...it's ceramic. So, I am just careful.Customer Review: Compost Crock

I've had one of these for a couple of years and use it every day. The handle slips off easily so you can wash the crock in the dishwasher, but is secure for carrying it to the compost bin. I wash the entire thing (including the filter) in the dishwasher as needed. Most of the time I don't even need to use the filter, as there is no odor when it is taken out to the compost pile daily. I'm completely happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who likes to compost.Customer Review: Great gift

I purchased this as a birthday gift for a neighbor who is also into organic gardening. They were using a plastic coffee can to gather coffee grounds, vegetable peelings, etc. for their compost pile. This looks so nicely on their counter with all the other white accessories. This is something I'll have to treat myself to as well. It seals well and there is no odor. I had a plastic coolwhip container for the longest time, until a friend of mine had one of these. Looks soooo much nicer and holds at least 4 times more, but not huge and out of place. This also keeps the smell out and most of the annoying fruit flies. I wish I could of found it in brushed nickel, to match my kitchen, but still very nice! I would recommend this product. This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my husband. He ran in the den so excited, he had opened the box without realizing it was addressed to me. He loves it and we can not smell anything in the kitchen. It looks nice on the counter compared to what we were using. We have been composting for some time and love this little jar. This turned into a pre Christmas gift and makes composting a little more enjoyable.
