Customer Review: Ill-fitting lid

The compost keeper arrived in good shape: it looks OK. However, the body of the keeper is slightly out of round so the lid (which is perfectly round) does not sit down very neatly.
Thanks for the opportunity to provide feedback. I was thinking of returning the item, but mailing costs would have been prohibitive.

Overall, I am happy with the product. It keeps the compost smell out of the kitchen and is nicer to look at than a bowl of scraps. The only negative I have is that I'm afraid I will break it because it is ceramic. Also on the inside bottom edge of the canister there is a rim, so some food always seems to get stuck inside. This is a good looking composter. It worked well for us for quite a few months. However, it is heavy and the handle is not safe. The kids usually take it to the compost. Today, the handle detached and the composter broke on the walkway. Needs to be redesigned. I'm thinking stainless steel. Don't like the idea of fingerprints. Like the other reviewer I find the handle comes off all the time, but I didn't mind the look at all. It is virtually odorless, even when almost overflowing, and I stick the filter right in the dishwasher from time to time. I have only handwashed the crock, but it is easy to care for. In our effort to "Go Green" this little container has really helped. It looks nice on the counter, doesn't take up a lot of space, easy to wash, and handy for storing waste. Would recommend to anyone who is composting.
