Ive had this item for a long time, the atachments do sometimes slip out, but if you treat it with respect and pay attention you wont get hurt.. you get what you pay for, and for me a mandolin that im only going to use maybe once a month to make potato chips, hash browns, or some augratin im not going to invest in a 50+$ unit... if your looking for somthing to add to your five star kitchin then look for somthing differnt, but this item works and im happy with it.. also to the person who cut there finger- you shouldnt be slicing with your hand use the glider they give you and you wouldnt have that problem :)

Norpro's mandoline slicer is an inexpensive way to experience the convenience and superior slicing capabilities of a mandoline. Mandolines are indispensable for cutting paper-thin slices of meat for sandwiches, perfectly uniform potatoes for potatoes au gratin, or tomatoes for your BLT. Included with this mandoline are three attachments which also allow you to cut potatoes or other vegetables into french-fry shapes, grate cheese or vegetables, shred or mince onions or garlic, and slice in three thicknesses. The mandoline frame is designed to be placed over a working bowl, with several spaced teeth for a secure fit.
