Considering some of the negative reviews I've read I am surprised by the quality of this item. It is very well crafted and came beautifully packaged. It assembles very easily and is very nice looking.
One thing that might put some buyers off is to make proper use of it a knife with at least an 8" serrated blade is needed. But I've discovered that an electric knife produces optimal results -- perfectly formed slices, just like store-bought breads.
Bottom line is I am quite satisfied with this product.

My wife any I had just bought a bread machine and decided to start making our own bread. After baking our first loaf it was very apparent that we needed a bread slicer. It was as if I were a 5 year old trying to color and not being able to stay within the lines. We purchased this bread slicer because it looked like it was of good quality and we liked the crumb catcher.
This is a great slicer. I have sliced anything from sandwich loaves to french bread to bagels. Works great!

I read two poor reviews of this product but, fortunately, decided to try it for myself. Judging from the picture, it looked like a good product. I had tried another brand and didn't like it. This one looked like an improvement and it was. You do, of course, have to use a bread knife that is long enough to fit into both sides of the guide. Also, if bread is allowed to cool, it will slice much better. I really like this product and my bread sliced easily and evenly.Customer Review: Bread Slicer

Before, when I made homemade breads, my husband would slice the loaves all different sizes. Thicker slices made it harder to eat sandwiches and we went through bread quickly. Now we can have nice even slices. If you want thicker slices, just skip a slot, at least even the thick slices are even in size. I like the way the platform is slotted so that crumbs fall through and it can be lifted of easily for emptying and cleaning. Overall really good product.Customer Review: Bread slicer

This is a great product. It is well made and a good value for the money. Just make sure that you have a good bread knife. I tried an existing knife I had on hand which didn't work well. I ended up purchasing a good quality knife to use with this slicer. The only thing I would change is the ability to slice larger slices but you can position the bread to do this. I think it is an awesome product compared to what I have purchased in the past.
