I bought this at the same time that I bought my new deepfryer for the purpose of straining the oil after each use. I used to use a plastic funnel with a little strainer inside, and it worked, but it was unstable and easily resulted in spills. And who likes to clean up oil spills? The Norpro 5 1/2 inch Stainless Steel Funnel with Detachable Strainer works great for the purpose for which I purchased it. It cleans easily as it is dishwasher safe. I was looking for a funnel that would not slip around when I poured a large amount of oil from my deep fryer back into the oil container. Most funnels slipped or even came out of the bottle and caused the oil to spill all over the place. I'm happy to say that this funnel did an excellent job. It stayed put and the filter removed almost all of the particles left over from frying. It was impossible to find a funnel like this in my local shops.Customer Review: Super Funnel!

This funnel worked perfectly. I deep fried a turkey for the first time (it was delicious) and was not thrilled at the thought of discarding 3 quarts of oil (costly and wasteful). After allowing the oil to cool, I poured it through the funnel into a large container to freeze and re-use at my leisure. The strainer did so well at removing all the leftover bits of fried food that the used oil was almost the same clear color as an unopened bottle.Customer Review: Perfect for draining/straining fryer oil.

I bought this to drain oil from my excellent Presto 5466 0ProFry Stainless-Steel Dual-Basket Immersion-Element 12-Cup Deep Fryer. I use it to filter oil in 4 cup increments from my wok to my thermos for storage. It fits perfectly into my thermos with no shifting during the pour. The filter catches all the detritus from the used oil. Since it is easily removable and both parts are stainless steel, clean up is a snap. I can't believe I couldn't find it in retail stores in Southern California. Thank goodness for Amazon!
