Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro 5569 Decorative Cup WarmerCustomer Review: This one works! Summary: 5 Stars
I read a ton of reviews for all the different cup warmers. None of them seemed to work. This one does. The drinks stay hot, but not as hot as when they were first brewed, of course. At least they aren't lukewarm. The cup gets hot too so be careful. I even use it for my 32 oz Bodum press tea pot. I set the pot right on the burner and my tea stays warm enough to enjoy for hours - not scalding, but between warm and hot.
You have to start with hot liquid. It will not heat cold or lukewarm drinks. The bottom of the cup has to fit flat on the hot plate. Without full contact, you will lose the heat. A super thick cup won't keep the liquid as hot as a thinner one. I tried my 3/8" thick glass latte cup, but it stayed only lukewarm. My regular cermaic and glass coffee and tea mugs work perfectly. The wider the bottom of the cup, the better. A pedastle cup has less surface contact so less heat is transferred to the cup.
There's an on and off roller switch on the cord itself. It seems some other models don't offer that feature. I also like the chunky "marble texture" look of this one. The seller (not amazon) delivered very fast too (less than a week). I'm very satisfied.
Customer Review: Wish I'd had one years ago! Summary: 5 Stars
I know that tea is considered "one of life's affordable luxuries" and I'd have to add this cup warmer to that category. I can't believe how pleasant it is to have my last sip of tea almost as hot as the first sip, especially when I've been on the phone or distracted. Now that I'm enjoying it in my home office, I'm going to get one for the table next to my recliner, and one for the kitchen. I'm spoiled now, and don't want my tea lukewarm. I have several thermal mugs but I do not like to drink out of them. I love being able to continue to use my favorite tea mugs and have the tea a nice drinkable temperature.
These items are called beverage warmers but it is important to realize their mission is to keep hot liquids hot, not to warm a cool beverage. The off switch is on the cord, a convenient few inches from the unit. The unit itself gets warm during use, but not so hot I can't slide it around if I need to. I do not recommend touching the top heating surface, so it is a good thing you can tell when it is on by a glance at the red light.
Customer Review: Works Great for What I Need It For! Summary: 5 Stars
This is great to have at my desk. I really enjoy taking my time in drinking my coffee. By the time my mug gets half full (of half empty, depending on your world view) it would be lukewarm at best.
This warmer has kept a mug of hot coffee (freshly brewed, straight from the pot) warm for 3 hours during a test session I held. I also tested this by putting a mug of room temperature water on it. It did warm it up a bit, but not to the temperature at which I like my coffee. I would never expect a product like this to be able to boil a mug of water. I guess that's why that call it a warmer and not a heater! :)
I could not be happier with this product. It arrived relatively quickly too. I can definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a way to keep your coffee warm. I no longer need to worry about painfully choking down those last few swigs of tepid coffee!!!!
Customer Review: 10014 Norpro Ceramic Electric Coffee Cup/Candle Warmer NIB Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very good product that plugs into a wall outlet, and it keeps my coffee at a nice warm temperature all day long. I've tried other USB port coffee warmers, and none had come close to the warmth this warmer heats up to. I highly recommend this warmer. The price is very reasonable too.
NOTE:
- The cord on my warmer is quite long.
- The on/off switch is only 3 inches away from the backside of the warmer, making it easy to reach.
- The warmer has a red on/off indicator light on the front which makes it very easy to tell if the unit is on or off.
- This warmer has a big heating surface. At least a 1/2 inch wider than a normal size coffee cup.
- The only negative issue about this warmer is that the ceramic surface gets pretty hot, but that's not much of a big deal for me, at least.
All-in-all, I'm very satisfied!
Customer Review: My tea is, how you say? Hot. Summary: 5 Stars
Tea drunk out of 20oz cups does tend to cool off very quickly, particularly when it has to sit on a desk in the northwest corner of a house, surrounded by a lot of old windows. In winter. A Chicago winter. Okay, so you've got the picture. One scalding sip, a couple of nice, hot gulps, a lukewarm few and the rest, ice cold. I needed a cup warmer. And after reading the reviews on about half a dozen of them I chose this one. It's a good, solid product with an on/off switch and a light to tell you which is which so you don't accidentally leave it on over night. It doesn't keep the tea scalding hot, but it does keep it somewhere in between hot and warm, and in my opinion, that's just fine. It keeps my tea warm, my tea keeps me warm. If you want it hotter put a microwave next to your desk.
