Very effective at slicing bread that is fresh and hard to cut. Good design with the rack and bottom so that crumbs do not go everywhere. The only down side to the product is that it is one more (fairly large gadget) that one needs to find storage space for. I'm actually happy with this product. Although bulky to store, but I manage to live with it. My suggestion is to buy an additional small chopping board (plastic or wooden) that fits into the slicer, reasons being, the slicer will last longer since the wood part is pretty soft. You should also buy a bread knife that is longer than 9".Customer Review: don't waste your money !

This is the perfect slicer for my homemade bread. Without this slicer my bread would be at a terrible slant! You just need a good, long bread knife and you're the rest is easy. I highly recommend this item.
