Excellent small gift/souvenir idea. Works great. Works in any conditions: get eggs for the whole family or just for one, which actually results in different time that is difficult to pre-calculate. You may sense a faint plastic smell from the water but it never penetrates the eggs. I used it about 20 times and it did not fall appart as some were complaining. Still very solid and reliable.Customer Review: excellent product

First of all, while I detected a smell while it was cooking, it was not unpleasant and not very strong. Since I was boiling eggs in the shell, I wasn't concerned about leeching chemicals.
This egg timer really works, though you still need to keep an eye on the pot to know when the fetch the eggs out. But no more overcooked egg yolks. Creamy, perfectly set yolks everytime.

Every once in a while there comes along a gadget that you wonder how you did without. This is one. No guesswork, only perfectly cooked eggs. I've used this handly little device to make soft-boiled and hard-boiled eggs, and they have always come out perfect. Just drop it in the water and take the pan off the burner when the color advances to the point you want your eggs cooked.

The first time I used it I put a little white vinegar into the water with the eggs and timer. It seemed to cut down on the plastic smell. Also the vinegar will seal your eggs if they crack preventing the insides from leaking out. I did notice the timer has to be completely dark for the eggs to be done instead of the little light circle in the middle like is stated on the packageCustomer Review: The best thing since sliced bread

This is the most common sense egg timer ever invented! You can't get any more intuitive than this, it's like you can visualize exactly what the progress of the cooking eggs are and get it right every time! Everyone should have one of these and give one to anyone that doesn't have one! It's perfect eggs just the way you like them every time!!
