Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro Icon Cut N Slice Flexible Cutting Boards, Set of 3Customer Review: flexible cutting mats Summary: 5 Stars
these mats are easily cleaned, protect surfaces, and very user friendly around the kitchen, funneling chopped foods into bowls and pots.
Customer Review: Easy to use and clean Summary: 5 Stars
These boards are great. They are flexible but not so thin that they collapse in the dishwasher. I am pleased with my purchase!
Customer Review: Surprisingly good Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these because I liked the idea of being able to roll the flexible mat to make it easy to slide things off the boards. I was surprised at how long these mats lasted. I finally had to retire one when I set it on the glass top stove while one of the burners was still warm. Board melted, but cleaned right off the stove with no problems.
The boards are a bit small if working with large meats like a whole chicken, or a whole fish (like red snapper). So if you do that regularly, then you will need something larger.
The boards have a tendency to slide a bit if working with stubborn meats
The boards hold up very well to the top rack of the dishwasher. They will warp/deform a bit overtime, but they will work very well.
They boards didn't seem to be hard of knives, but if you invested a lot on your knives, you may want a thicker/heavier cutting surface that is kinder to the knives. These held up well with my $10 cuisinart santoku, but took a bit of a beating when I got the 7" shun santoku.
If you are trying to equip a kitchen on a budget, then these are a great choice. If you already have good kitchen gear, then I would suggest a heavier set of boards/mats. I still rated these highly because they are great for what they are.
Customer Review: Good for the price, I'm ordering another set... Summary: 4 Stars
I really like these mats. They are easy to toss onto the counter top. They are thin and flexible, which allows you to funnel food into a pan easily, and makes it easy to fit them into the dishwasher (even when full). I hand sharpen my kitchen knives regularly, and I've never had one cut through this mat. As someone else said, they take up virtually no space in the cabinet.
The only drawback is that they tend to warp a little over time. This is probably because I bend and flex the mats to fit into the dishwasher. This is not usually a problem because the weight of the food I'm cutting flattens them out.
I'm buying another set not because the first set is worn out, but because I use them so much I need more!
Customer Review: Not Bad Summary: 4 Stars
I normally use heavy glass cutting boards, but sometimes I do not feel like lugging them out just to do a quick chop. I used to use a plastic cutting board for small jobs but they were expensive and never lasted long.
Three of those boards cost less then one small plastic one and have lasted longer. They are clearly marked so you can avoid cross contamination. They bend, so they can be used to slice food directly into a bowl or pot.
They do scratch easily, but then all plastic type cutting boards do. They can slip, so you might want to put a damp dishtowel under them. I wash them by hand and have had no problems with them.
