Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro Meat Grinder, Mincer, and Pasta MakerCustomer Review: Perfect Summary: 5 Stars
Don't be put off by the low price. This thing does exactly what it is expected to do exactly as one would expect it to do it.
Even the priciest gourmet food store does not clean its meat grinder to my satisfaction. Your medium rare burger is going to contain some medium rare pork as well.
Anyway, this thing replaces an attachment on my Kitchenaid stand mixer. It is easier, faster and simpler to clean. I love the way this thing adheres to the counter. Three pound meatloaf of beef, pork and veal took just 10 minutes. DEFINITELY put the meat in the freezer for about an hour before grinding. Cut the meat into strips. It only takes a few minutes to figure out what works well and what does not. For burgers, you might want to run the meat through twice.
I haven't a clue why some of these reviews are negative. Perhaps they assembled the mechanism incorrectly.
Customer Review: Great grinder for a great price Summary: 5 Stars
I feed my cat a raw food diet. Buying ground meat from the store was getting to expensive so I wanted to buy boneless meat and grind it myself. After some research and reading other reviews, I chose the Norpro grinder. For the price I paid, which was very reasonable, I am VERY happy with it. It suctions to the counter great and have had no problems with it slipping. I only use it to grind boneless raw chicken, so I can't comment on the pasta maker. It is made for smaller chunks of meat so keep that in mind. You have to make sure the attachment is screwed on tight or it will losen as you put stuff through and can get messy. After I figured that out everything worked fine. It is NOT dishwasher safe though. That's fine with me because I like to soak it in a little bleach water since I use it for the raw meat. Cleaning is easy as long as you do it right away before everything gets stuck on.
Customer Review: Handles fat and ligaments very well Summary: 5 Stars
My fiance and I received this today and were really excited to try it out. We had some pork shoulder in the freezer we cut into strips and fed into the grinder. At first I was worried that the grinder was a bit on the small side but it easily ground through the pork, making quick work of the fat and tendons in the meat. The ground was nice and even, not too big, not too small.
The design itself is very sturdy and effective, it's definitely not cheap plastic. The suction device was very secure and did not budge during the grinding. I have not tried the pasta function since I bought this primarily to grind pork for dumplings.
Overall I am super satisfied, especially since it easily ground a fairy tough piece of meat very nicely. Would definitely recommend it!
Customer Review: Does exactly what I want! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this grinder to use for raw feeding for my ferrets. This thing does exactly what I want - which is grind up meat. So far I have ground up chicken thighs, wings and raw organs - kidney, liver, heart, and gizzards. This thing chewed up and spat out what my blender had a hard time with (gizzards, heart and parts of the kidney). This thing also chews up raw chicken wing bones like no one's business! Granted, I DO have to rock the handle back and forth otherwise the suction cup will pop off (thats the about the only thing about it thats poor), but it still grinds the bones up enough to make them tiny bits.
This thing is made out of solid, Lego type plastic and its pretty sturdy. Suction cup could be improved on, but otherwise its nice.
Customer Review: Really nice & easy to use Summary: 5 Stars
I just used this meat grinder the other day to make ground beef for meatballs. I took a roast and sliced into strips and placed in the grinder. It was so easy to use! It wasn't difficult at all and the meat turned out nicely. Then I placed a garlic clove in the grinder and ground that right into the meat mixture and did the same with a chopped onion (chopped into quarters). I even put a place of homemade flat bread in the grinder to get some bread crumbs for the meatballs. It made getting the ingredients prepped so easy! I have not tried the pasta making function but I think that would be easy to use as well. The price is right and I love that it doesn't depend on electricity to function!
