Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro Professional 9-Inch by 12-Inch Heavy Gauge Cookie SheetCustomer Review: Pan surface marred by sticky tape! Rough edges! Look elsewhere! Summary: 1 Stars
I just received this 9x12 inch baking pan. When I opened the box, the pan had no plastic wrapper but it did have a large label stuck to the pan. I tried to carefully pry the label off the pan but dead-center was a 4 inch strip of double-sided adhesive that stuck to the pan when I removed the label.
I tried to remove the adhesive from the pan with peanut butter and a paper towel (usually removes any kind of gummy tape residue) but had no luck. Then I soaked the pan in hot water and dish detergent for over an hour but it was now just hot and sticky adhesive. I ended up coating the area with peanut butter and using a wooden popsicle stick to gently "bunch" the adhesive residue up and off the pan, which took the better part of half an hour.
For my trouble, I was left with a nice shiny pan with a 4" by 1/2" mark where the adhesive had been. Whatever they used to hold down the paper, etched itself into the metal! What the heck is up with that? Every other pan I have ordered online comes with some kind of paper label attached but they all use the little "gummy-bear" type stuff that just rolls off easily. This stuff ruined the look of my pan.
Now, here is the kicker. On the bottom side of the label were three recipes: How to make a jelly roll, Pumpkin Squares and Cookies. The adhesive "PULLED THE INGREDIENTS LIST" for the Pumpkin Squares right off the label. So I have no idea how to cook that even if I were so inclined.
Really poorly thought out idea for attaching the label to the pan.
The only other complaint is that I have a fair number of professional baking pans and the design of this is baloney. The pan is metal with with a metal skin formed over it and the edges that are crimped under are not pressed down tight and a bit rough/sharp to the touch.
IF YOU WANT A NICE, HEAVY DUTY BAKING PAN, GO TO A RESTAURANT SUPPLY STORE. AT THE VERY LEAST, AVOID THIS PAN. BETWEEN THE METAL-ETCHING ADHESIVE AND THE LOUSY DESIGN OF THE "SECOND-SKIN" APPROACH, THIS PAN SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN YOUR KITCHEN.
Customer Review: Sticky business! Summary: 1 Stars
Sadly, I did not read the reviews before ordering and had the same experience as another customer. The glue that is used to attach the label to the pan does not come off. I soaked it, tried scraping it... nothing. There's a permanent ultra sticky, goopy strip smack dab in the center of where food should go. I just called to exchange, but am now worried that the next one they send will be exactly the same. It's a shame, because the pan looks and feels pretty high quality.
Customer Review: Arrives scarred for life Summary: 1 Stars
Norpro used a indelible adhesive to attach the marketing paperwork to the cookie sheet. It wouldn't come off in soapy hot water, scraping with a razor blade, heating with a flame (to soften the adhesive before scraping) or with scotch tape. (I'm not going to use acetone on cookware!) Who thinks of these things? After 20 minutes I still have a prominent strip of adhesive residue in the middle of my pan. Do they expect us to cook it off?
Customer Review: Fail Summary: 1 Stars
As another reviewer stated - these are NOT 9x12" baking sheets. They do in fact measure 13" x 9.5" and will NOT fit into a standard 12" toaster oven. How hard is to measure a baking sheet and get it right? The bottom may be 9x12" but the baking sheet itself is not. These will get returned.
Customer Review: Don't buy Summary: 1 Stars
The sticker or superglue they used to put the cover sheet on the pan is impossible to get. I tried soaking it and scraping with a knife and only succeded in scratching the pan up. I even tried using degreaser and it wouldn't even budge. TRUST ME DON'T BUY.
